Brickyard Billiards LIVE was launched. The spark of the CHR Sports fire.
June 15th, 2009
In early May of 2009, I was working with the APA (American Pool Players Association) in Atlanta, Ga. to put together a few Juniors 8-Ball Pool Tournaments to help promote the formation of a Juniors APA 8-Ball Pool League. As a former Professional Player and Instructor I was excited to work on such a project. I mentioned it to my 12 year old son to see if he would be interested in playing in it. He was very interested, and told everyone in the family about it including his Grandparents. But unfortunately not all of our family could attend the tournament. I felt bad for him that they would not be able to watch him play.
A week or so later I was watching a Women's Pro event on the Internet LIVE STREAM webcast from Colorado. I thought that maybe I could find a way to do that for our juniors tournament. So that is what I did. I talked to the people that ran the webcast of that tournament and found out what was needed to do it on my own or if it was even possible to do. I found out that with the right equipment it is really simple. I then found some sponsors to help me with the associated costs and before I knew it, we were live, on-line, and webcasting our tournament for everyone to see. It was a huge success and I knew I was on to something.
I created a channel and named it Brickyard Billiards LIVE Pool and Billiards Network and gave everyone that played in the tournament the web address. By the time the word got out, every friend, grandparent, aunt, uncle, heck anyone that could not be there to watch these kids play in person, was watching it over the Internet. It was great. The sponsors got video add exposure, the league got video exposure, and the venue got video exposure. It was a Win-Win-Win for everyone, and yes, my dad got to watch my son play in his first juniors tournament as well. I had so much fun doing this that I wanted to do more tournaments, adult tournaments, as often as I could.
Then it hit me; "Why stop at pool and billiard tournaments, there are kids playing all kinds of sports all over the city." Thus CHR Sports and Entertainment was born and I owe it all to Brickyard Billiards LIVE. For More Information Contact: |
